Andrew Byers is an estate planning, elder law, and probate attorney serving individuals and families throughout Southeast Michigan. He helps clients protect what they have built, maintain control over their financial and personal decisions, and create clear practical plans for the future.
While much of Andrew's work falls within what is traditionally called “elder law,” his approach focuses on planning ahead—not just responding to crisis situations. He works with clients to put strategies in place before they are urgently needed, helping to preserve assets, reduce uncertainty, and ease the burden on family members.
Andrew regularly assists clients with:
- Estate planning, including wills, trusts, and beneficiary coordination
- Asset protection and long-term care planning including Medicaid planning
- Planning for incapacity, including powers of attorney and medical directives
- Probate and trust administration
- Guidance for families navigating aging, caregiving, and decision-making
Many of Andrew's clients are individuals and couples who are planning for retirement, supporting aging parents, or thinking ahead about their own future. They are looking not just for legal documents, but for a coordinated plan that aligns with their financial goals and family circumstances.
His approach emphasizes clarity, practicality, and long-term usability. Estate plans are designed to be understood, implemented, and relied upon when they are needed—by clients, their families, and other professionals involved in carrying out the plan.
Andrew works directly with his clients throughout the planning process and personally drafts each estate plan and other legal instruments created for his clients. His goal is to provide clear guidance, practical solutions, and a plan that can be understood and used when it matters most.
Andrew believes that good planning is not just about transferring assets at death—it is about maintaining independence, protecting choices, and reducing burdens on the people you care about. By addressing these issues early, clients are able to make decisions on their own terms, rather than under pressure.
